GW is not a true RPG. The lack of persistency makes it very difficult. It's basically a click fest, not an RPG. You do NOT have to pay for a good RPG. Play Neverwinter Nights on a persistent world server. There are literally hundreds out there with 50 players RPing at any given time. You can get the NWN Platinum edition for around $30 and read more about top-rated PWs here:

I've never been into the whole roleplaying thing. I went to the international districts a while ago and this group of 4 were roleplaying...it was really awkard, using the emotes it eventually led to some weird sex fest that I decided I wanted to stay out of so I decided to haul ass out of the district...

when i say role play i dont mean crafting unique armors and spells ...

im saying people playing the char .. like an actor in a drama play
i mean , being the pupet and not the pupet master.

you dont need a expencive rpg game for that , but i was thinking that in those you have to pay , people take it more serius , so they role play it ..

i will try international dists , sound like a good idea.

ps : yes best rpg i played ever , was on a text rpg in a forum.

but guildwars , is far a better place for a fun rpg game.

roleplaying is not using emotes or having a beer at merchent

roleplaying is when you become your avatar ...

its kind of easy to know why most people cant do this .. its not a normal thing to do .. lol

my guess is that in guildwars people are stressed to keep going , doing missions and quests , or wining the hall of heros .. people dont realy care for making friends and role play with them ...

this is where guilds come in ... i hope

I tried going to one of the RP gatherings posted in the RP board once but it was boring as boring can be and after a half hour of sitting there doing practically nothing with my head getting ready to explode I bugged out. Another time I did my first online RPing in what seems like forever with some people in my now dormant guild and enjoyed it a little.

Sometimes it's the people you are with and the situation. In the first case it was like chatting in a formalized IRC room where no one was talking about anything interesting and the only people who knew what was going on had gone to the first meeting and the latter case it was relaxed and fun.

That said, I think I've had more bad RP experiences than good ones so I'm getting a little gunshy if you catch my meaning.
